Bernette has a special gift for connecting people to homes they love. With her personalized service, her clients not only trust her as an agent, they see her as a friend.

After teaching high school English and engaging in commodity research, Bernette's interest in real estate began when she and her husband renovated their Lakeview three flat. They transformed the turn of the century building into two income-producing apartments plus a duplex for their family of five. Their renovation experience was so successful, that they plunged in again, rehabbing a two flat into a single family home.

Having whetted her appetite in real estate, Bernette became the assistant manager of Morningside North, a 256-unit apartment building on the near north side of Chicago. After her family's move to Highland Park in 1981, Bernette became the on-site manager of Brooke Estates, a four building condominium complex in Highland Park. But her interest was always in helping and giving service to people, so she took the natural step into residential real estate in 1986. Her goal of giving expert counseling and service to those buying and selling homes led to a successful real estate career on the North Shore. After their three children were grown, Bernette and her husband moved back to Chicago and their beloved Lakeview graystone.

Bernette earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Illinois and has also done graduate work at Loyola and Roosevelt University. In addition to her membership in professional organizations, such as the National Association of REALTORS®, Illinois Association of REALTORS® and Chicago Association of REALTORS®, Bernette enjoys being a docent for the Chicago Architectural Foundation and the Prairie Avenue House Museums.
