Charlotte is also a founder and partner of the Heartland Health and Fitness Spa in Gillman, Illinois, voted by Town & Country magazine as "One of the best spas in the Western World." An honored and dynamic force in the community at large, Charlotte is a strong supporter of numerous philanthropic, political and arts-related activities, both locally and nationally. She was a board member at the inception of several Chicago theatres, including the St. Nicholas and National Jewish theatre, of which she is also President. She also sat for nearly 20 years on the board of the award-winning Steppenwolf Theatre, as well as The Poetry Center. And she is the current President of the national Foundation for Jewish Culture.

Charlotte is the mother of two grown daughters who were raised in the city's Lakeview neighborhood, giving her first-hand experience with many of Chicago's facilities and services.
