Joan has been active in Chicago residential real estate sales for over 30 years. In 1980, she and four partners founded Beliard Gordon & Partners, reputed to be the premier real estate firm in Chicago, and the first all women-owned and managed real estate company in the city. Joan was President of the company at the time it was sold in 1996.
In 2005, the Chicago Board of Realtors presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Joan and her former partners. It “honors the real estate career of an industry leader for their character, accomplishments, and contributions. An exemplary model for all industry professionals to follow.”
Joan has lived her entire life in Chicago. Her early years were spent in Lincoln Park, where she attended the Francis W. Parker School. She raised her children in the Lakeview neighborhood and now lives on the Near North Side.
Joan has been active in many charitable organizations over the years. She is currently a member of the Advisory Council of Deborah’s Place, which provides rehabilitation and housing for homeless women. Joan also volunteers at the Patricia Crowley apartments.
