After twenty years building custom homes either as a carpenter or a general contractor Jim McLaughlin can say that what makes for a great job is listening and responding to his client’s needs. Many of Jim McLaughlin’s accomplishments as a professional come from his ability to effectively communicate with and listen to his customers, developing a critical trust that is necessary for each project to succeed. “I’m lucky that the customers I’ve had in the past have trusted me and my knowledge of what I’m doing,” he says. “That trust transforms into a happy client.”
Jim McLaughlin is very team orientated and believes without the proper communication; the job and the details in performing his job will never be accomplished. As a team the client and Jim work together to achieve the highest expectation for what the client expects. Having been a custom home builder for almost 20 years, Jim McLaughlin differs from the traditional real estate agent. He has built and sold homes on speculative (“on spec”). This experience helps Jim McLaughlin view the selling process from his client’s vantage point, as he has been in your position many times.
His commitment to his clients is to make the whole process as easy as possible, to care about the details that others may disregard as meaningless and to put the clients needs first, in all aspects on the selling or purchasing their home.

Jim gives his clients an extra benefit, ideas for cost effective ways to maximize the amount a home can sell for or what a client should buy the home for. Jim McLaughlin holds a B.A. in English from the University of Iowa. He and his wife live in Libertyville with their three girls, and one dog.
