Rich in natural resources, Cary was first settled as a farming community. Today, although land is still farmed in this small town, industrial growth has made big strides. Three industrial parks have been built in the village that house major employers such as Seaquist Valve, Tru-Test paint and Accutronics.
Housing
In an effort to keep growth under control, zoning laws have been passed requiring homes to be built on larger lots. Condominiums are non-existent.
Transportation
U.S. 14 runs through the village. It has expanded from two to four lanes to better accommodate the growing population.
Schools
District 26 has three elementary schools, each offering a young Authors Program, Great Books, and Odyssey of the Mind, a program that challenges students through creative problem solving in math, physics and fine arts.
Shopping
Cary Square is a local mall with a variety of convenience stores and specialty shops. Downtown Cary features a few specialty shops and convenient stores.
Recreation
The Cary Park District Complex is an indoor recreational facility with racquetball courts, swimming pools, exercise equipment, sauna and whirlpool. Several public and private golf clubs are located in neighboring communities.
