Crystal Lake has all the charm of a rural resort town with all the services of a major city. Originally a summer resort town for the wealthy, Crystal Lake is the permanent home to over 25,000 residents. It is also the home of 17 manufacturing companies, among other industries, employing over 12,425 people. In addition to industrial and commercial growth, Crystal Lake is equally proud of its growth management accomplishments. Town legislation protects natural resources, lowers taxes through revenue, and sets prerequisites for new commercial construction.

Transportation

Local elementary students are served by schools in District 47. High school students attend Crystal Lake South or Crystal Lake Central High Schools in District 155, which has been acknowledged for academic success in both science and cooperative programs.

Shopping
Crystal Lake is the major commercial center for McHenry County. It supports more than 300 stores including major department stores and specialty shops.

Recreation: Crystal Lake Park District offers 800 acres of recreational area at thirteen separate sites. Over 400 different recreational programs are scheduled year-round.
