Incorporated in 1834, the once sleepy rural town of St. Charles has become "the Pride of the Fox", a thriving, progressive community on the Fox River about an hour’s drive west of Chicago. A rising number of homebuyers are attracted to St. Charles by steadily appreciating property values, a stable self-sustaining commercial and retail base, and a lovely scenic location. Careful planning and management on the part of village administration has preserved much of the rural charm of the area alongside bustling residential and commercial growth.

Transportation
Resident commuters are within an hour of the Chicago Loop via Metra Chicago & Northwestern trains from the neighboring Geneva station. A bus system operates regularly in the area, as well as a senior citizen’s taxi service. Drivers connect with the Northwest Tollway (I-90) via Illinois Route 31, and the East-West Tollway (I-88) via Farnsworth Avenue.

Schools
District 303 is also home to six elementary schools and two junior highs, all outfitted with computer labs. St. Charles High School is acclaimed for its academic and athletic excellence. ACT composite scores are well above average. The St. Charles swim team has dominated the state championships for the last several years. Private and parochial schools are also available.

Recreation
The St. Charles Park District maintains 37 park sites totaling some 663 acres. Pottawatomie Park on the river features swimming and wading pools, a baseball field, tennis courts, 18-hole and miniature golf courses, playgrounds and an amphitheater. The John B. Norris Recreation Center and the new Norris Cultural Arts Center are major local sports and fine arts facilities. The nearby Pheasant Run Resort and dinner theater is also very popular. Many beautiful miles of bike trails are located nearby.

Hospitals
St. Charles residents are served by Delnor Community Hospital in nearby Geneva.

Places of Worship
Most major denominations are represented in town or within close proximity.
