About Peter:
Peter is active in residential, investment, and commercial property transactions and development throughout Chicago, with particular emphasis on Hyde Park, Kenwood, Bronzeille, The Gap, South Shore, and other mid-South Side communities, and the Near North Side, the Gold Coast, Streeterville, and The Loop.
In collaboration with his partner Michelle Browne, Peter is a trusted, proven resource on classic neighborhoods and properties all around the city.
Peter’s focus is creative solutions, consistent communication, strong negotiating, and simplifying the complex real estate process for his clients.
Peter was a business owner and manager and a news editor in his earlier career. Peter also served in the U.S. Air Force, on active duty and in the Reserve, with assignments at the Pentagon, U.S. Air Force and joint service commands, and overseas, including duty with NATO, retiring as a lieutenant colonel.
Peter moved from Streeterville on the Near North Side to the neighborhood near The University of Chicago campus on the mid-South Side, where he operated a B&B that consistently received four-star guest reviews. Peter has been actively involved with animal rescue and other volunteer work.
Peter also has a home in Ely, Minnesota in the Arrowhead Region at the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness near the Canadian border.
Peter is on the Board of the Chicago Horse Center, a multifaceted initiative to restore horseback riding to Chicago's South Side parks to benefit underserved youth, offer equine assisted therapy, create educational and employment opportunities, and provide horse stabling and riding facilities for the community, among other programs. He also serves on the Board of a prospective charter school on the South Side of Chicago, the Be the Change Charter School. In his spare time, Peter enjoys yoga, biking, cross-country skiing, and horseback riding.
Peter was educated at Michigan, Stanford, William & Mary, and Chicago.
Peter's clients quickly come to know that he makes the many extra efforts to deliver a totally successful outcome for those whom he is privileged to serve.
Comments from recent clients:
"Even if Peter Schuler had not shepherded our son and daughter-in-law through the purchase of the National Landmark Milliken House that Chicago Magazine then featured as the “Deal of the Month," or found them the outstanding contractor who beautifully restored it to its early 20th-century, Prairie elegance and updated it to their taste, and even if Peter were not, for all his discipline and reliability, engaged, interesting, easy and perfectly charming company, we would still owe him a world of gratitude for enlisting his impressive skills and extraordinary patience on our behalf. Caught as we are between cities and life phases, we have not been easy clients. Peter has listened flexibly to our ambivalent wishes, found a wide range of concrete alternatives and led us to contacts who could help us answer decision-determining questions. Peter is thrilled to be connected with Prudential Rubloff because it offers so many ancillary services that help him fulfill his client-centered sense of his work as a realtor. As long as we are looking for real estate in Chicago we will feel privileged and grateful to have his guidance."

"Peter, very simply, helped me sell my Hyde Park condo in six months, after other agents failed to do so in double the amount of time! He did that through sound advice, respectful communication, constant alertness, refined behavior, endless patience, and broad knowledge of the housing market in Chicago. This was particularly valuable for me since I was not living in Chicago during the entire process. I would thus recommend Peter as highly as possible for anyone who wants or sell or purchase a property, especially in Chicago South. Trust me: you will be in extremely capable hands!"
- A professor emerita at The University of Chicago
"Peter is a fantastic resource. He listened carefully to what we were looking for and applied his block-by-block knowledge of Hyde Park to help us find our fabulous first home. As first-time buyers we had a lot of questions. Peter was thorough, supportive and patient in helping us understand every step of the process. We recommend him highly!"
- Eliza Bryant and Jessica Harless
“Peter's patience and encyclopedic knowledge of the Hyde Park area helped us find the perfect house. We were first-time home-buyers, and Peter "held our hand" throughout the entire process, and he continues to give us help and advice even well after we've completed the sale. We recommend him enthusiastically."
- Husband and wife faculty members at The University of Chicago
"Peter is a terrific agent. We were not sure of what we wanted and Peter showed us a wide range of properties to help us figure out our priorities. He is creative, knowledgeable, patient, and very easy to work with. We recommend him very highly!"
- Faculty member and spouse at The University of Chicago
"Peter is a reliable person. I was looking for a building for my religious purpose. It has been the last five years for my congregation to rent out places here and there. We really wanted to settle down by purchasing a place. But the former agent didn't know the area and I had to supply information about this area for him. But Peter carefully listened to us and understood our purposes and our needs in Hyde Park. He led us to buy the house that is affordable, suitable and spacious. If anyone is looking for an agent for finding a house, building or anything related to real estate, I recommend Peter. He will help you not only to buy what you need but also to find people who can help you to improve your house or office. One more thing, he would be patiently listening to you and what you need, yet he would not hesitate to give you his thoughts for you to see the better. In the meantime, he will be your friend and you will be his friend, too."
- Joshua Hong, Pastor of Hyde Park UBF church
"My husband and I moved from the North Shore to the city over a year ago. On our journey we met Peter Schuler at Prudential Rubloff. No words can describe the character and patience he showed us during this difficult transition. We started on Michigan Avenue and ended on Prairie Avenue/South Calumet. We never imagined we would be so happy in the area we call South Loop. Peter has been more than a real estate agent to us because he actually listened to our complicated story and tried to help us through this journey we call life. We have the utmost respect for him as he had the tools to lead us and stay with us during all the bumps in the road. We highly recommend Prudential Rubloff if you need to transition in life, based on the experience we had with Peter Schuler."
